Lamb…What it’s All About

Family, friends, and fellowship.

At the center of it is always food. The richness of lamb takes that story to another level.

Let me ask you a question...How often have you hosted a celebration without food? And who gets excited about a big veggie meal? Rich meats are made for celebrating.

Carli, Ellis and I are recently returning from a 2-week vacation to our homelands back in the Midwest. It's an annual pilgrimage we make every year to reunite with those closest to us.

This year was special, as I was able to butcher a lamb before and fly back a couple of whole legs for a festive feast. The experience reminded me of what lamb is all about. Where it fits on the table.

My brother, with a lot more experience than I cooking meat over a fire, smoked both legs, and they turned out succulent. Plus, how beautiful! I come from a large family, so having everyone together is always a rich time. Big, rich meals for people to gather around during celebrations are some of my favorite times in life.

I've been on a mission to share lamb with more and more people, because as I've said time and again, we're all missing out. Well, this trip I think I may have made more converts.

There are a handful of lambs still available for wholesale at the next slaughter date this December. If you have more questions about how to cook/eat lamb, or buying a whole animal, you can reach out to me at willamettecommunitylamb@gmail.com, otherwise, you can check out the website for the buying process.
